Putud and Rara are husband and wife and are from Yogyajkarta, Central Java.
She was a fine artist and he was a graphic designer.Together combining their specialties they have created this very singular style. Their Still-life pieces feel surr eal, with vivid colours and a digital feel to them, at the same time also feeling classic, incorporating classical features such as traditional vases and plants. Every piece incorporates some detail that people can relate to, be it nostalgia or hobbies.
The reason their work looks so digital and vintage at the same time is due to their creative production process. Putud and Rara start by drawing by hand their concept, which is then digitised, they arrange a collage incorporating different elements and textures. Finally the digital concept is translated into a canvas hand painted piece. The result is this fascinating mash-up of digital physical art.
